红萍具有繁殖快,产量高,生长周期短,周年可以放养,作基、追肥的肥效均好等优点,是一年三熟制中有前途的固氮绿肥。实践证明,周年养萍繁殖快慢的关键不在于气候,而在于肥、水条件及精细的管理措施。一般日平均气温(以下简称气温)在13～33℃之间,只要掌握合理的肥、水条件和精细的管理技术,红萍就可以迅速繁殖,4-7天内便能成倍增长。在13℃以下和33℃以上时,红萍的生长明显受抑制,繁殖减慢。气温在5℃以下和35℃以上时,红萍基本停止生长。花县地区每年日平均气温在5℃以下、35℃以上的天数极少,所以周年可以繁殖红萍。

Huaxian area annual average daily temperature below 5 ℃, few days above 35 ℃, so anniversary can breed red ping.
