无论是中国还是西方学术界,都很少研究中国地域文化的海外传播。本文以澳洲华人和华文传媒为例,通过历史研究和实地观察法,探索中国地域文化的一个独特分支——广府文化的海外传播。研究显示从19世纪中期广府文化就开始在澳洲广泛传播,深刻影响华人乃至主流社会的人口结构、政治、经济、文化直至今天。特别是广府的传媒文化,从1856年至今一直都是澳洲华文传媒中不可或缺的组成部分。一个国家的地域文化一百多年来都左右着另一个国家的移民传媒,这在中国乃至全世界地域文化的海外传播中都极为罕见。从现象到本质,研究通过比较广府文化在美国等西方国家的传播,展示地域文化成功进行海外传播的特点——历史性、开放性和创新性。
Neither China nor the western academic circles study the overseas dissemination of Chinese regional culture. Taking Chinese and Chinese media in Australia as an example, this article explores the overseas dissemination of Guangfu culture, a unique branch of Chinese regional culture through historical research and field observation. The research shows that since the mid-19th century, Guangfu culture began to spread widely in Australia and profoundly affected the population structure, politics, economy and culture of Chinese and even mainstream society till now. In particular, the media culture in Cantonese has been an integral part of the Australian Chinese media since 1856. For a hundred years, a country’s regional culture has dominated the immigrant media in another country. This is extremely rare in the overseas dissemination of regional culture in China and even in the world. From phenomenon to essence, this study shows the characteristics of the success of regional culture in overseas communications by comparing the Guangfu culture in the United States and other western countries - historic, open and innovative.
