锌矿位于黄岗梁—乌兰浩特铅、锌、锡、铜、铁、金多金属成矿带的北东端,在1:20万水系沉积物测量圈定的巴伦楚鲁吐—大石寨—哈拉黑—马鞍山—金山堡锌、银、铁、铜、金多金属一级成矿预测区内。矿区围岩蚀变种类有硅化、绿泥石化、绿帘石化、碳酸盐化、高岭土化等。矿体赋存于含角砾、晶屑酸性熔岩中,找矿标志地表岩石具褐铁矿化、黄铁矿化、强硅化、叶腊石化、莹石化、绿泥石化、绿帘石化,为第一找矿标志。
