Distorted colonial figures in postcolonial novels. As a anti-colonial novel, “Myanmar Years” distorts narrative usage throughout the entire novel. Through portraying the images of the colonizers, the description of the language and the revealing of the psychology, the extremely distorted psychology, world outlook and morality that they hide under the distorted appearance are also presented to us one by one. After comparing and contrasting their ideology and the construction of distorted images, we find that such “distorted and revealing” narrative tactics are rather ironic about the decline and deformity of the colonial paradigm. We also find that this twisted characterization It is consistent with the ironic tendency and intention implied in it.
