磁力轴承就是依靠磁场力支承的轴承,其转轴和定子磁极之间没有任何机械接触,也可以不存在介质(包括空气)接触。所以几乎是无摩擦,不需要润滑。这种特殊优点引起国内外科技人员极大兴趣,作了很多研究,试制出多种磁力轴承实验装置。但在目前各种磁力轴承中,可控磁力轴承(Active Magnetic Bearing简写AMB)最成功地应用在工业上。工业上实用的AMB采用五个自由度控制,即在三维坐标六个自由度的空间中,除围绕转轴所在轴坐标的转动不控制外,其余五个自由度,包括转轴轴向移动、另外两个轴坐标的轴向移动及其绕轴转动等都受控制。
