1997～1998年试验结果表明：在豫西地区苜蓿一年可刈割41茬。从产草量、再生速度、茎叶比、越冬性、越夏性、抗病虫性等多个方面综合比较，表现较好的国外苜蓿品种为卡夫101、安斯塔苜蓿、秘鲁苜蓿和埃及1643，国内苜蓿品种为晋南苜蓿和保定苜蓿。
The results from 1997 to 1998 showed that alfalfa could cut 41 crops a year in western Henan. From the aspects of grass yield, regeneration rate, stem-leaf ratio, overwintering, summer sex, pest resistance and other aspects, the best foreign alfalfa cultivars were Kraft 101, Ansalpas alfalfa, Peruvian alfalfa and Egypt 1643, domestic alfalfa varieties Jinnan alfalfa and Baoding alfalfa.
