陈述在《历史研究》2013年第2期上撰文认为:毛泽东是中国共产党的创始人之一,他对中共党史学科的形成、发展作出了卓越贡献主要体现在以下三方面:一是重视中共党史研究。为提高对历史问题的认识,毛泽东通过颁布指示等,积极推动全党全军进行中共党史和军史的研究以及多次表示要编写中国共产党的历史。实践表明,正是得益于全党科学全面总结经验的活动,才能在抗日战争和解放战争时期确定 Statements in “History Studies”, No. 2, 2013 Write that: Mao Zedong was one of the founders of the Chinese Communist Party.
