南菜北运,是鲜活货运输的大宗,每年从11月开始,到第二年的第一季度,有大量的各种蔬菜,从遥远的南方用火车运到北方,让北方人民在严寒的冬季,能够吃上鲜嫩的蔬菜。这些蔬菜主要产在四川、广东、海南、广西、福建、云南等省,品种有柿子、青椒、豆角、西红柿、芹菜、韭菜、黄瓜、菜花等。为防止腐烂,要求运输中的温度为0℃-6℃,所以运输以前,要用筐包好,既要坚固耐压,又能通风散热,每件重量最好不要超过20-30公斤。装车时,要稳固装载,留有通风空隙。过去铁路运输多数用敞车、棚车装
