续范亭(1893——1947),山西省崞县(今原平市)西社村人,政治家、军事家、诗人,孙中山先生的追随者,辛亥革命元老,赞同共产党停止内战、一致对外的主张,反对蒋介石“攘外必先安内”的不抵抗政策。1935年12月,他在中山陵前剖腹明志,以唤醒全民抗日,被社会各界认为“最有血性的爱国将军”。后加入由中国共产党领导的抗日民族统一战线。1947年续范亭将军逝世后,毛泽东主席敬挽为民族解放,为阶级翻身,事业垂成,公胡遽死!有云水襟怀,有松柏气节,典型顿失,人尽含悲!
