拱桥的静力特点是在竖向荷载作用下,拱的两端不仅有竖直反力,而且还有较大的水平反力(拱端推力)产生。因此,拱桥从受力角度要求应具备良好的地形、地质和基础条件。但本桥桥址处为软土或砂粘土地基,按理不适应修建拱桥,但设计者综合考虑了周围环境景观等因素的要求,采取了在拱脚处设置两根斜撑杆的巧妙构思,克服了因拱脚水平推力所要求的重型基础和地基条件限制,使桥梁设计者感到耳目一新。
