Arunabha Ghosh and Karthik Ganesan seek to meet the needs of poor and rural families by focusing on government subsidies and calling for support for low-carbon industry. The Indian government has three major energy goals: to provide everyone with energy, secure energy supply, and promote low-carbon economic growth. However, these three major objectives have not captured the core essentials. The improvement of energy supply can not be achieved simply by guaranteeing that such a simple goal is to be provided 24 hours a day throughout the country. The quantity and quality of energy consumption in India are very different among different income groups and urban and rural areas. Energy subsidies and security policies are far from satisfactory.
