1959年第一届全国地层会议将西北区奥陶系的生物层分为十一个,经过二十年后,这方面的工作有了很大的进展,已经有条件将笔石相和壳相分别建立生物层序来加以对比了。本文综合西北区奥陶系笔石相十六个带,壳相生物十六个层或带,以对于建立这一生物层序意义较大的祁连山、鄂尔多斯台缘、塔里木盆地北缘、秦岭和中天山五区为主,结合各地有关的新进展分述如下。 (一)祁连山区西北区早奥陶世新厂期生物层,目前研究较完整的是祁连山区,继中国科学院祁连山地
