人为的甲状腺毒症指的是由于摄食过量甲状腺激素引起甲状腺中毒。也可以说是一种食入性或外源性甲状腺毒症、潜在的人为的甲状腺毒症或甲状腺碘药剂造成的疾病。它不仅包括精神不稳定的人,尚有一些学生志愿者或犯人受试者,为了研究目的而造成甲状腺毒症。他们有意或无意地摄食了含激素的食丸或污染了甲状腺组织的牛肉;另一种人为甲状腺毒症的原因是儿童偶然食入大量药品,当然也有少数是成人。
Artificial thyrotoxicosis refers to thyroid poisoning due to excess thyroid hormone intake.
