用常温固化型树脂砂造型(制芯)法来生产铸件具有一系列的优越性。但为了得到更大的经济效益,除了进一步提高树脂与催化剂的质量、降低成本;不断完善工装与工艺;以及研制高效、低耗、性能可靠的成套设备外,对所使用的原砂及再生砂的质量亦必须给予足够的注意,一定要有完善的旧砂再生装置及严格的原砂管理措施。在这样的前提下,旧砂经再生后有95%左右可以重新用于造型和制芯,相应只需补加约5%的新砂。只有这样才能充分利用资源、减少废弃物的排放,既保护了环境又提高了经济效益。下面仅就有关原砂及再生砂的质量要求方面作一简短叙述,供参考。
