历史上,Internet服务提供商和通信业者已经使用帧中继作为连接服务器阵、网络访问点(NAP)和展示点(NPP)的有效途径。最近,不断增大的工作负载和对更高带宽的需求已经迫使许多ISP把他们的干线升级为ATM。虽然转向ATM通常以帧中继为代价,但帧中继在与ISP的专用业务连接领域找到了它的适当位置。是当IT管理者和ISP在把帧中继与ATM通信结合起来时面临许多问题,许多人部选择与业界趋势背道而驰,这种选择可能会把市场的带头人推下宝座。
Historically, Internet service providers and carriers have used Frame Relay as an effective way to connect server arrays, network access points (NAPs), and point-of-presence (NPP). Recently, increasing workloads and the need for higher bandwidth have forced many ISPs to upgrade their trunks to ATMs. Although the move to ATM usually comes at the expense of frame relay, Frame Relay has found its place in the area of private business connections with ISPs. Is that IT managers and ISPs face a number of issues when it comes to combining Frame Relay with ATM communications and many choose to run against industry trends that could push market leaders aside.
