The fate of internet-class buyers this year has shown their influence, largely changing the way venture capitalists face start-ups. However, the lessons for retail investors are more worth learning. Actually, the lesson is simple: if you want to make use of Internet stocks to get rich, then you either start your own Internet company, or else go to another Internet company, or invest through the private equity market. If you wait for the company to invest in the open market, waiting for your portfolio is likely to be painful. The lesson is clear for those who bought Face-book, Groupon or Zynga shares during the IPO period.
