黄哲伦是活跃在好莱坞和百老汇的著名华裔剧作家。他创作的《蝴蝶君》使他声名鹊起,备受瞩目。《蝴蝶君》是在两个叙事层面展开的:一个是叙述法国外交官伽里玛恋上男扮女装的中国间谍宋丽玲;一个是借伽里玛的讲述戏仿意大利剧作家普契尼创作之歌剧《蝴蝶夫人》。在叙事中,黄哲伦有意通过对日常生活中琐碎事物的描写凸显了剧中人庸常化生存状态。而这琐碎、凡俗、困窘的生存状态传达着荒诞哲学的题旨——人和人的疏远,人与世界的疏离。
Huang Zhe Lun is a famous Chinese playwright who is active in Hollywood and Broadway. His creation of “Butterfly King” made him famous, attracted much attention. “Butterfly King” is launched at two narrative levels: one is the Chinese spy describing the French diplomat Galileo who loves to be a man’s disguise, Song Liling; the other is the story of Galileo, a parody of Italian playwright Puccini Opera “Lady Butterfly”. In the narrative, Hwangseol-lun intentionally highlights the trivialization of the play by describing the trivial things in daily life. And this trivial, vulgar, embarrassing state of existence conveys the theme of absurd philosophy - the estrangement of man and man and the alienation of man from the world.
