2002年是法国的伟大作家,世界文化名人维克多·雨果(VictorHugo,1802—1885)诞辰二百周年,我国的有关单位已经举行了并还将举行多种多样的研讨和纪念活动。本期特发表由北京外国语大学张放教授翻译的法国名作家维尔高尔为新版的《悲惨世界》撰写的序言《雨果与良心》,奉献给中国读者,以志对雨果的纪念。1985年,正值雨果逝世一百周年之际,法国的“袖珍书”丛书重版了《悲惨世界》,这个版本除了由维尔高尔作序之外,还由法国全国雨果委员会秘书长尼科尔·萨维作评注。由于维尔高尔的序言写得十分精彩,新版的《悲惨世界》出版当年,应法国广大教师的要求,“序言”单独重印成册,作为教育参考资料。《雨果与良心》(Hugo et la conscience)是一篇充满激情与理性的美文,它不仅告诉我们作者少年时代读雨果作品所受到的永生不忘的震撼,更精辟分析了为什么“雨果作品远非过时,却有千真万确的现代性”。由此,我们更可以理解为什么雨果作品能超越时空,具有如此惊天地、泣鬼神的永恒魅力。
2002 is the two hundredth anniversary of Victor Hugo, the great French writer and world cultural celebrity. The relevant units in our country have held and will also hold a great variety of seminars and commemorative activities. In this edition of special issue, Victor Hugo, the famous French writer translated by Professor Zhang Fang at Beijing Foreign Studies University, published the preface “Hugo and Conscience” for the new edition of “Les Miserables” and dedicated it to readers in China to commemorate Hugo. Hugo et la conscience, a passionate and rational American, not only tells us the shock of immortality that Hugo et la conscience was exposed to as a teenager, but also makes a clearer analysis of why rain Fruit works are far from outdated, but they are truly modern. " As a result, we can understand why Hugo’s work can transcend time and space, with the eternal charms of such astonishing earth and weeping ghosts and gods.
