Larne believes that there is a difference between lean and traditional manufacturing cultures when actually solving quality problems. The latter lacks trust in workers and tends to implement technical solutions. Lean culture may eventually implement technology solutions, but rely on the operator as the first solution. This article introduces quality-related lean ideas, as well as quality lean approaches and tools, especially in areas involving personnel operations. These tools and methods include: Standard work; Training; Visual work instructions; Inspection - Implementation - Inspection; Contact quality method; Error proofing; Failure modes and impact analysis; Operator-based improvement.
