Criticism is a reminder, a warning, and an effective measure to correct shortcomings and mistakes. Nowadays, criticism is no longer an indisputable topic. However, it is even harder for critics, especially their superiors, to criticize their superiors and the masses to criticize their leaders. The People’s Daily published an article entitled “Why Supervision of Public Opinion is Difficult,” citing examples of three authors being punished for criticizing leadership in the newspapers. One was asked to “resign from the work of the government,” one was “suspended for processing” and one was “penned” by pen name or by all means.
