The relatively high proportion of manufacturing in rapidly developing areas outside metropolitan areas appears to be an interesting phenomenon in the global regional economy. In 2007, the per capita GDP of Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture was the fourth in Japan. The proportion of the secondary industry with manufacturing as its main body was as high as 43.3%, ranking third in Japan. In the same year, Aichi Prefecture, where Toyota Motor Corporation is located, per capita GDP ranks third in Japan, with a secondary industry share of 39.5%, ranking fifth in Japan. New Jersey, New York, opposite the manufacturing share of Manhattan, there are similar situations.
