西奥多·德莱塞的作品《嘉莉妹妹》是一部蕴含十分丰富的小说。自从1900年出版以来,文学评论家就从各个角度对小说加以分析,对小说人物加以评判。各个时期的批评为研究这部作品提供了不同的视角,在帮助读者理解作品上起到了引导和启发的作用。基于此,从文学伦理学的视角出发,以小说中事件发生的伦理现场为立足点,探讨小说中人物行动的伦理道德方面的原因,从而对《嘉莉妹妹》进行重新解读,以期对小说中的人物所作所为做出新的阐释。
Theodore Dreiser’s The Sister Carrie is a very rich novel. Since its publication in 1900, literary critics have analyzed the novel from all angles and judged the novel’s characters. Criticism from different periods provides a different perspective for the study of this work and plays a guiding and inspiring role in helping readers to understand the work. Based on this, from the perspective of literary ethics, taking the ethical scene of the incident in the novel as the starting point, this paper explores the reasons for the ethical and moral behavior of characters in the novel, and then re-interprets Sister Carrie so as to study Make a new interpretation of what the characters do.
