模式噪声是新近发现的一种现象,它表现为对信号的寄生调幅,是一种乘性噪声,对第一个光纤接头前的光纤机械振动极其敏感。模式噪声是光源相干性、空间滤除或模式滤除和光纤传输特性的函数。在某些情况下,模式噪声会降低数字通信系统的指标和严重恶化模拟通信系统的质量。本文简介了光纤系统里的各种噪声源,定性阐述了模式噪声的机理、现象和影响,介绍了一种数学分析的方法,最后简单提了尚须进一步研究的问题。限于篇幅,本文没有全部介绍所有已发表的工作,所列文献不全,请有关作者原谅。
Mode noise is a newly discovered phenomenon that manifests itself as parasitic amplitude modulation of the signal and is a multiplicative noise that is extremely sensitive to the mechanical vibrations of the optical fiber before the first fiber optic connector. Mode noise is a function of light source coherence, spatial filtering or mode filtering, and fiber transmission characteristics. In some cases, pattern noise can degrade indicators of digital communication systems and seriously deteriorate the quality of analog communication systems. In this paper, we introduce various noise sources in fiber optic system, describe the mechanism, phenomenon and influence of modal noise qualitatively, and introduce a method of mathematical analysis. At last we briefly raise the problems that we must study further.
