Hepatitis G virus (HGV or GBV-C) is a newly discovered human hepatitis virus. HGV belongs to the family of Flaviviridae, which is a single-stranded positive-sense RNA virus. The genome of HGV is about 9.4Kb in length and has a worldwide distribution of varying degrees. At present, the research on HGV at home and abroad has just started, especially on the clinical and epidemiological studies of HGV. It has been reported that HGV can spread through the bloodstream and its prevalence in the United States is more serious than that of HCV. This article reports the prevalence of HGV in our province for paid blood donation.
