Objective: To investigate the effect of anxiety and depression on the treatment of infertility patients with frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) in high altitude areas. METHODS: Anxiety and depression questionnaires were investigated in 308 women with infertility who were voluntarily assigned to FET in Xining (average 2 261m) using the General Hospital Emotional Test (HADS). Results: The incidence of anxiety and depression in 308 patients were 50.65% and 39.94% respectively. The clinical pregnancy rate in anxiety and depression patients was lower than that in asymptomatic patients. As the history of infertility increased, the incidence of depression increased. CONCLUSION: Anxiety and depression are the major causes of FET in infertile patients with high-altitude FET. Anxiety and depression affect the therapeutic effect of FET. The medical staff should strengthen the psychological nursing intervention for the patients.
