狐狸在前边走，发现有个陷阱，就绕过陷阱，并对身后的野猪说：“这儿有陷阱，小心注意！”
身后的野猪听了，不服气地哼了一声，说：“就你能，别卖弄聪明了，谁不知道前边有个陷阱！”野猪走到陷阱前边，看了看陷阱，边绕道而行。
走了不远，狐狸又发现了一个陷阱，绕道而过，但这一次狐狸没有回头告诉野猪，狐狸认为野猪也能识别出陷阱来，多说确实小看野猪了，令野猪生厌反而自找难看。所以，狐狸不发一声，自顾自地走自己的路。谁知，刚走了不远，就听到身后有野猪的嚎叫声。
狐狸回过身子，飞快地跑到野猪嚎叫的地方一看，野猪已经掉进了陷阱里。陷阱很深，狐狸也无计可施。
野猪在陷阱里看到了狐狸，愤怒地大骂道：“该死的狐狸，和猎人串通一气，设陷阱来谋害我。
狐狸一声不响，找了些食物丢在陷阱里，然后默默地走了。■
A fox was walking ahead of a wild boar when he detected a trap. He bypassed it, turned round and said to the wild boar,” Watch out, here is a trap.”
The wild boar heard the warning, gave a snort of disbelief and said, “Stop showing off your cleverness--- who doesn’t know there is a trap in front?” He walked over to the trap, had a look at it and bypassed it.
The fox did not walk afar when he discovered another trap. Not wanting to belittle and annoy the wild boar so as to court a rebuff, this time he simply bypassed the trap without turning round to tell his companion, who, he thought, had the ability of identifying it. So the fox remained silent and moved forward by himself. Never had he expected that he didn’t walked afar when he heard the wild boar howling.
The fox turned round, scurried to the place where the howl came from only to find the wild boar caught in the trap. So deep the trap was that the fox couldn’t do anything to help him out.
Seeing the fox, the trapped wild boar gave him a good scolding, “ Damn you, you and the hunter set a trap for me!”
The fox kept silent. He found some food, threw it into the trap and left without saying a ward.■
