李紫贵在中华人民共和国建立之后,在导演工作上取得了卓越的成绩。他的戏曲导演理论与导演艺术给我们有下列两点启发:一是若要让戏曲跟着时代一起前进,戏曲必须由演“技”变为演人物;二是化无形为有形,用细节“演”出人物来。演员须先掌握戏曲表演的程式,而不是先学会人物内心体验的方法;演员认知人物的性格时要调动自己的文化知识的储备;演员的心与眼要高度的一致;剧目不要轻易地安排歌唱,只有人物到了情不自禁之时才能唱。
