植物在吸收CO_2进行光合作用的同时,蒸腾释放一定量的水汽。可以用光合强度(P)与蒸腾强度(E)之比(P/E)来表示植物利用水分的效率(Water Use Efficiency缩写成WUE) (Bierhuizen and Slatyer1965;Waggoner and Monteith 1964)。由于叶片光合和蒸腾本质上都是物质通过气孔的运动过程,因此气孔阻力的大小控制着作物的水分利用效率(Cowan and Troughton 1971;Sinclair等1975;Rosenberg1985)。
Plants absorb carbon dioxide for photosynthesis at the same time, transpiration release a certain amount of water vapor. Water use efficiency (WUE) can be expressed as a ratio of photosynthetic (P) to transpiration (E) (P / E) (Bierhuizen and Slatyer 1965; Wagoner and Monteith 1964). Because leaf photosynthesis and transpiration are essentially the process of movement of matter through the stomata, the size of the stomatal resistance controls the crop’s water use efficiency (Cowan and Troughton 1971; Sinclair et al. 1975; Rosenberg 1985).
