Carcinogenicity Around the 1930s, the first cases of lung cancer in dichromate-producing workers in Germany and Switzerland were reported. In the early epidemiological survey conducted in the United States and Britain, the incidence of lung cancer in chromate and chrome pigment producers did increase, three times that in the United Kingdom and 28 times in the United States. The average incubation period was 10.6 years, 14.5 years, 21 years, 27 years and 15 years. According to a study by Langrd et al. (1975), workers exposed to lead chromate and zinc chromate in a pigment plant had a predicted 38-fold incidence of bronchoconstructions and an incubation period of 17-20 years. Recently Dalager et al. (1980) reported that exposure of zinc chromate to the aircraft maintenance plant for more than 20 years
