Objective: To explore ways and effects of strengthening the safety management of inpatients in respiratory department and provide references for the hospital to strengthen patient management. METHODS: A total of 102 patients hospitalized in Respiratory Department of Shaoxing Municipal Hospital of Zhejiang Province before strengthening safety management from March to August 2014 were selected as control group. From September 2014 to February 2015, safety management was carried out in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province 135 patients hospitalized in Respiratory Department of City Hospital as intervention group. The control group routinely managed in-patient patients according to routine procedures. The intervention group conducted in-patient patient safety management under the enhanced safety management model. The incidence of nosocomial infections, safety accidents, incidence of medical errors and treatment in the two groups were compared Adverse reaction rate. Results: The incidence of nosocomial infections, safety accidents, incidence of medical errors and incidence of adverse reactions in the intervention group and control group were significantly different (P <0.05), and the intervention group was significantly lower than the control group. Conclusion: After the implementation of safety management mode, the safety defects of inpatients in respiratory department significantly reduced during hospitalization, and the safety and quality level and management level have been significantly improved. It is suggested that strengthening safety management mode is an effective management method for inpatients in respiratory department.
