西北民族学院社会人类学·民俗学研究所于1998年10月7日正式成立。据悉,该学院民俗学硕士研究生点、《西北民族研究》编辑部均划归社会人类学·民俗学研究所管理。西北民族学院民俗学硕士研究生点,迄今已有汉、回、蒙古、藏、维吾尔、裕固、东乡7个民族共17名学员,先后毕业并获得学位。他们的毕业论文选题范围有:城市回族居住格局和乡村回族武术文化及妇女民俗,哈萨克族原始文化与宗教传播并生育习俗,西蒙 Northwest Institute for National Institute of Ethnology and Folklore was officially established on October 7, 1998.
