The novel Catcher in the Rye is the masterpiece of Jerome Salinger, a book about Holden’s wandering three days and two nights living on New York’s High Street, showing the spirit of American youth after World War II Confusion and values issues. The success of “Catcher in the Rye” is that it succeeded in reproducing the language style of American teenagers, realizing the perfect combination of characters and languages and forming a personalized “Holden language.” This article analyzes the language features of the Catcher in the Rye, starting from the anti-traditional language style, the humorous language features and the symbolic language image.
