人的本质不是一种既成的存在,而是人通过实践活动自我创生的,对人的本质的占有和实现构成人的发展过程,人的本质的生成性特征是思想政治教育的人学根据。马克思主义对人的本质的理解包括两个基本层次:一是从人与动物相区别的层次看,人的本质是劳动,这一层次构成人的类本质,即人的劳动本质;二从是人与人的区别层次,人的本质是一切社会关系的总和,这一层次构成人的群体本质和个体本质,即人的社会关系本质。人的本质是类本质、群体本质和个体本质的辩证统一,人的本质的层次性构成思想政治教育的多维目标。思想政治教育既要促进人的群体本质和个体本质的占有和实现,又要促进人的类本质的占有和实现,促进人的类本质的占有和实现是人的当代发展的突出需要。
