The global AIDS epidemic is still grim, intervention strategies still not universally effective, the urgent need for new and effective interventions to integrate biomedical prevention - behavior prevention - a comprehensive model of social structure prevention, such as pre-exposure prophylaxis. Rhesus macaque and mouse models demonstrate its effectiveness and safety, but the results are limited to directing the design of clinical trials because only clinical trials can truly demonstrate that pre-exposure prophylaxis can effectively block the spread of HIV. There are two key factors for the success of this strategy: one is personal risk decision; the other is social environmental susceptibility. Pre-exposure prophylaxis has great potential in the area of AIDS and needs to be included early in planning and developing contingency plans.
