Hysteresis loops and pyroelectric effects exist in the ultrafine films of semi-cyanine organic molecules prepared by LangmuirBlodget technique. The pyroelectric coefficient was approximately 12μC · m-2 · K-1 at room temperature as measured by charge-integration method. The relationship between molecular orientation structure of semicycocyanin and temperature in organic ultrathin films was studied by means of polarized infrared absorption spectroscopy. The microscopic mechanism of pyroelectricity generation is discussed
