Studies challenging traditional anthropology from a gender perspective began in the 1970s and are still in the ascendant. By backtracking history and analyzing cases, the author first outlines the relationship between gender status and power, and grasps the relationship between large-scale and small-scale. It also draws on a variety of valuable materials to establish the argument: from the means of living (such as hunting / collecting) to the functioning of power (such as implicit / explicit, private / public), from biological rules to intercultural interpretation to cultural symbols Exploring the basis of gender differences reveals the role of kinship, living patterns, resource allocation, property and class relations for gender differentiation. Finally, it summarizes the contributions made by various schools of anthropology in the theoretical methods around gender studies.
