“Ethnic Identity of Chinese - Anthropological Study of Four Hui Communities” is an academic monograph written by American anthropologist Dru C. Gladney on Chinese Hui people. From the perspective of anthropology, Hui nationality as a case, to re-think the topic of Chinese ethnic identity. Through reading “Chinese Ethnic Identity - Anthropological Study of Four Hui Communities”, the author believes that this book has a high academic value. The author reexamines the Hui nationality under the new theory and realizes the thinking and expansion of the existing academic theory paradigm in the case studies of ethnic identity of the Hui ethnic group. Since the research is based on the field practice of multiple communities, understanding the Hui nationally from the macro and micro perspectives provides us with a new perspective to understand the Hui people.
