互联网自1993年对公众开放以来,已经由一种信息技术手段,演变成一种新兴产业,再进一步成长为在社会生活中扮演重要角色的新媒体,经过十几年的发展,网络作为一种媒体显示出日益强大的生命力。2008年北京奥运会上,网络媒体首次正式成为奥运会持权转播商,以其报道规模大、原创率高、市场运作和技术水平高等优势,成为与传统媒体形成双峰竞秀的格局。这与网络媒体在汶川大地震中的表现等一同作为历史性标志,表明网络媒体已经成年,在人类社会中成为一种既有强大影响力也承担一定社会责任的新生力量。
