The two fibers have cut-off wavelengths for single mode pumping of 980 nm or 1480 nm, respectively, which are considered to be the most common wavelengths in Europe, the United States and Japan. York VSOP has provided these countries with experimental erbium-doped fibers for amplifier development for two years.
