  主谓语一致是中学英语重要语法,也是高考重要考点,其热点考查内容如下:
  
  一、考查the number of…与a(large/great)number of…做主语时谓语动词单复数
  
  the number of+复数名词表示“……的数目”,做主语时动词用单数形式;a(large/great)number of+复数名词表示“许多……”,做主语时动词用复数形式。
  典型考例:
  1.As you can see.the number of cars onour roads______rising these days.(2006全国卷Ⅱ)
  A.was keeping B.keep
  C.keeps D.were keeping
  析:答案是C。the number of ears表示“小汽车的数目”,做主语时动词用单数,these days暗示该空表示现阶段的动作,因此应填keeps。
  2.Nowadays,a large number of women.especially those from the countryside,in the clothing industry.(2005辽宁)
  A.is working B.works
  C.work D.worked
  析:答案是C。该句主语a large num-ber of women为复数概念,因此受Nowadays影响该空应填一般现在时复数动词work。
  
  二、考查谓语动词和前一个主语一致的场合
  
  with,together with,along with,as well as,for example,for instance,such as,like,but,except等词连接两个主语时谓语动词根据和前一个主语一致的原则。
  典型考例:
  1.The father as well as his three chil-dren______skating on the frozen river everySunday afternoon in winter.(06辽宁)
  A.is going B.go
  C.goes D.are going
  析:答案是C。every Sunday afternoonin winter暗示该空表示经常性、习惯性动作,应用一般现在时,因as well as连接两个主语时谓语动词根据和前一个主语一致的原则,因此该空应填单数动词goes。
  2.The teacher.with 6 girls and 8 boys of her class,______visiting a museum when the earthquake struck.(2004北京)

  C.had been D.would be
  析:答案是A。with连接两个主语时谓语动词根据和前一个主语一致的原则,因此该空应填单数动词was。

  析:答案是C。along with连接两个主语时谓语动词应和前一个主语保持一致,因此该空应填单数动词is working。

  析:答案是A。but连接两个主语时谓语动词根据和前一个主语一致的原则,因此该空应填单数动词knows。
  5.All the employees except the manager______to work online at home.(2004广东)

  C.is encouraged D.are encouraged
  析:答案是D。except连接两个主语时谓语动词根据和前一个主语一致的原则,因此该空应用复数动词,因该空表示“被鼓励”,因此应填are encouraged。
  三、考查and连接两个主语时谓语动词单复数
  
  用and连接的两个名词通常视为复数,但是下列情况比较特殊:用and连接的两个名词前都有冠词或其它修饰语时视为复数;用and连接的两个名词只在第一个名词前有冠词或修饰语被视为同一人或物,被看成整体做主语时动词用单数;用and连接的两个名词前都有every,each,many a和no修饰做主语时动词用单数。
  典型考例:
  A poet and artist______coming to speakto us about Chinese literature and paintingtomorrow afternoon.(2006江苏)
  A.is B.are C.was D.were
  析:答案是A。A poet and artist,一位诗人艺术家,表示单数概念,做主语时动词应用单数。
  
  四、考查不定式、动名词、疑问词+不定式、带逻辑主语动名词结构做主语时谓语动词单复数
  
  不定式、动名词、疑问词+不定式、带逻辑主语动名词结构做主语时无论内含多少复数名词,谓语动词一律用单数。两个疑问词+不定式做主语动词仍用单数,但多个不定式、动名词、疑问词+不定式、带逻辑主语动名词结构做主语时动词应用复数。
  典型考例:
  When and where to go for the on-salaryholiday______yet.(03上海春季)
  A.are not decided
  B.have not been decided
  C.is not being decided
  D.has not been decided
  析:答案是D。When and where to gofor the on-salary holiday仍属一个“疑问词+不定式”结构,做主语动词应用单数。
  
  五、考查there be主谓语一致   
  若there be后面只有一个名词,be的单复数与之一致;若there be后面有几个并列名词,谓语动词根据就近一致的原则。
  典型考例:
  Of the making of good books there is noend;neither______any end to their influence0n man’s lives.(2004广东)
  A.there is B.there are
  C.is there D.are there
  析:答案是C。any end为单数,因此该空应填is there。
  
  六、考查分数、百分数做主语时谓语动词单复数
  
  分数、百分数做主语时谓语动词取决于of后面的名词。
  典型考例:
  The comoany had about 20 notebook computers but only one-third______usedregularly,Now we have 60 working all daylong.(2006浙江)
  A.is B.are C.was D.were
  析:答案是D。one-third后面省略ofthe 20 notebook computers,因此该空应用复数动词。Now暗示该空表示过去动作,因此应填were。
  
  七、考查one of+复数名词与the only one of+复数名词做主语谓语动词单复数。
  
  "one of+复数名词"的词组后如有定语从句修饰是修饰复数名词,所以谓语动词用复数;而"the one(the only one)of+复数名词"的词组如有定语从句修饰是修饰the one或the only one,所以谓语动词用单数形式。
  典型考例:
  He is the only one of the students who______a winner of scholarship for three years.(2002上海春季)
  A.is B.are
  C.have been D.has been
  析:答案是D。the only one of the stu-dents表示“单数概念”,因受for three years影响该空应用现在完成时,因此应填hasbeen。
  
  八、考查a large quantity of,a lot of, plenty of等词做主语时谓语动词单复数
  
  a large quantity of,a lot of,plenty of修饰复数可数名词动词用复数,修饰不可数名词动词用单数。
  典型考例:
  As a result of destroying the forests,alarge______of desert______covered theland.(2001上海)
  A.number;has B.quantity;has
  C.number;have D.quantity;have
  析:答案是B。desert为不可数名词,因此应用a large quantity of修饰,且用单数动词。
