佛家有“六度”之说,即用六种方法修行,在普度众生的同时成就自己。六度是布施、持戒、忍辱、精进、禅定、智慧。季羡林先生翻译过很多佛教典籍,他对佛学研究日久,不知不觉间,就得到“真传”。在我看来,季老的忍辱功夫和精进本领就非同一般,十分值得今人学习。
