This article outlines a method of processing that has successfully eliminated multiple reflections using control gain processing (Highlights?), Continuous velocity analysis, and velocity filtering. In areas with multiple reflections, the typical pre-superimpose deconvolution not only deteriorates the primary energy, but also changes the relative amplitude of the primary. The method described in this paper can eliminate multiple reflection energy without disturbing the relative amplitude of a reflected wave. Elimination of multiple reflections is accomplished by applying a unique speed filter that has been designed and improved by the author. The filter parameters are repeatedly determined at each point of total depth and converted directly from the velocity of the multiple and the primary wave. The filtering system is an iterative convergence system, which successively eliminates various multiple reflections and minimizes the quality degradation of the primary reflections. An example of a typical Canadian coastal area is introduced.
