你家庭院内若有株红花油茶树的话,可将它改头换面变为“观音十八笑”。“观音十八笑”是福建省漳平县永福乡花农陈新华保存下来的祖传珍贵茶花品种。它天然多色,一树多花,花朵呈红、白、紫、茄、淡黄等多种颜色。在同一花朵中,又有白系红条、紫条、粉红条、茄色条;红系白纹条、粉红条、紫纹条、茄色条等各种复色花朵。在花型上也复杂多变,有含笑型、开朗型、雪花型、浪花型、霞光型及醉翁型。同一树上的叶片形状也随花型而各异,因此经专家鉴定订名为“观音十八笑”。它的花期特长,从10月可开到次年4月,为目前茶花品种所莫及。且抗寒性颇强,在持续14天零下1℃～9℃的严寒下,未出现过冻害,花朵的鲜艳度也不会因受到低温的影响而减退,是茶花北移的优良品种。
