湖北省秭归县香溪镇周家湾村,位于长江西陵峡北岸,山大坡陡,水土流失严重,治理前的1982年,有耕地1346亩,占总面积的24％;林地1361亩,占24.2％;荒山2420亩,占43.1％;裸岩192亩,占3.4％;其它用地294亩,占5.2％。水土流失面积4540亩,占总面积的80.1％,其中,中强度流失面积3300亩,年侵蚀模数3600吨/平方公里,耕地日渐瘠薄,农作物产量低,群众生活贫困。 该村自1983年11月开始实施水土保持综合治理,五年多来,累计完成治理面积3503亩,包括工程措施治理890亩,生物措施治理2613亩。总投资42.02万元,其中国家扶助13.57万元,群众投劳折款28.45万元。 经过五年的综合治理,农业生产条件、生态环境以及群众的生活水平都发生了明显的变化
