(Robert Penn Warren,1905-1989),
(Robert Penn Warren, 1905-1989), the first poet laureate in the United States. In his early years he was one of the representatives of the “New Criticism” and was recognized by critics as “our most distinguished writer” and “the most important American poet in the second half of the twentieth century.” Warren is a rare all-around writer in American contemporary literary circles. His elegant and popular poetry, the rapid pace often reflects the sentimental and melancholy, showing the contemporary sense of loneliness and alienation, revealing a coexistence of good and evil world.
