Bone marrow transplantation is the best way to treat leukemia. There are 40,000 newly-increased leukemia patients each year in China, and more than 4 million patients are waiting for bone marrow transplants. However, most of them are under the age of 35, and more than 50% of them are children. Prerequisites for bone marrow transplantation are for patients looking for donors with uniform tissue matching for leukocyte antigens. The probability of this combination is 1/4 in siblings with blood, and only 1 in 100,000 in non-blood relationships. At present, many countries in the world have established a bone marrow transplantation database. The United States has 4.7 million in capacity, 5.7 million in Europe, more than 2 million in Japan, and 200,000 in Taiwan, and China has less than 30,000 fund-raising capacity, which contrasts sharply with 4 million patients and 1.3 billion people. For the treatment of a leukemia patient, donors with the same type of donor need only provide a small amount of healthy bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells without any impact on the health of the donor. These cells can be quickly regenerated and can use a regenerable bone marrow to save a life. Is there something more meaningful than this?
