The symptoms of childhood bronchitis are important public and clinical health problems that have a significant medical burden on the sick. Air pollutants are an important risk factor for bronchitis. The aim of this study was to determine whether the improvement of ambient air quality in southern California is associated with a reduction in children’s bronchitis symptoms. Using a longitudinal study design, a total of 4602 children (aged 5-18 years) from three study cohorts from 1993-2001, 1996-2004 and 2003-2012 were included, covering eight communities in Southern California. Use a multi-level logical model to assess the association between changes in air pollution and bronchitis symptoms.
