80年代末,伴随着改革开放及社会环境的宽松,画廊业应运而生。尽管此时的经营者不谙“市场操作”的本领与技巧,画廊多以作品展示的功能性面向大众。但也正是基于经营者这种对市场的前瞻性眼光,及“摸着石头过河”的勇气,大大动摇了官方美展的长期统治,及画店经营的传统模式。早期的画廊不仅吸纳优秀的作品、提供更为新颖独特的展览空间,也使作品的买卖与流通渠道更为公开化与多样化。无疑,画廊业的兴起,把艺术家及其作品推向了市场的前沿阵地,从此在这面飘扬的旗帜下,有了更多的话语与喧哗……
In the late 1980s, with the liberalization of the reform and opening up and the social environment, the gallery industry came into being.
