For non-Western ethnic groups living in Europe, the traditional “other ” identity is the product of Western discourse hegemony. They have to passively accept it and let themselves be bound by this modest and rigid cultural identity. However, the Chinese people in Europe, represented by Zhao Shu-xia, actively deconstruct the identity of the old “others” and continuously enrich the ever-changing ethnic consciousness into the identity of the new “otherness.” While pursuing development, Constantly update self-cultural identity. Zhao Shuxia’s novels are the historical testimony of this process, which not only shows the process of dynamic construction of new cultural identity, but also has far-reaching significance to the survival and development of local Chinese in the future.
