Historical evolution Singapore’s seaport, waterway depth, four seasons navigation, but also a natural safe haven, its superiority is clearly larger than what Raffles can recognize. In the early days of British colonial rule, ships were moored to the waterfront across the Singapore River, and shipments were transported by barge directly to the base of the kisses. Port Keppel, west of Port-Cap-Bar, now home to the Singapore Port Authority’s main facility, was used by the Portuguese in the 16th century but was later scrapped and was not discovered by the British until August 1819. Even at that time, the entrance to the port was too narrow for the horizontal sailing boat. Traffic on the ship appeared as well as the peninsula
